The Tysons Galleria project consisted of the addition of two exterior escalators from the parking deck to the third floor of the mall, directly above an operational loading dock. The challenge of keeping the loading dock open while casting the beams overhead was achieved by designing and installing a temporary 90-foot long covered walkway capable of supporting the pallet jacks used for deliveries. Most of the work on the footings, columns, beams and slabs had to take place on off hours, which included Saturdays and nights to allow continuous access to the stores and loading dock. Additional slab extensions were completed over the atrium on the third floor inside the mall.
